Community Grant Scheme

The CGS offers small grants of up to £1000, which are available to non profit making groups such as community groups and schools for projects which benefit the natural environment of the coast, the local area, the community and its visitors. 

Community Grant Scheme Criteria

The projects should aim to;

  • Maintain or enhance the natural environment of the East Grampian coast
  • Increase awareness and understanding and the need for management
  • Incorporate new ideas or themes in communication and interpretation
  • Encourage sustainable use of the natural environment
  • Improve public access to the coast
  • Maintain and celebrate the local heritage and its relationship to the natural environment
  • Encourage local communities to take an interest in their area and make coastal improvements and improving the future wellbeing of coastal assets, at a local level or
  •  Encourage different user groups which often have conflicting objectives, to work together and involve local people in the management of their marine environment.

The Community Grant Scheme can help fund the following;

  • Equipment and materials
  • Events     
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Conference and seminar costs
  • Special repairs   
  • Travel and outings
  • Start up costs
  • Training courses
  • Publicity materials
  • Research costs
  • Pilot projects

             

The CGS funding amount depends on the type of group applying for a grant. For schools the grants are available at 100% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum grant of £1000. For all other groups, grants are available at up to 70% of the total cost of the project up to a maximum grant of £1000.
