Seaside Awards

EGCP have been working in association with Aberdeen City Council and Aberdeenshire Council to gain Seaside Awards for our local beaches. These awards are presented by Keep Scotland Beautiful only where bathing water is of good quality and in line with the EU Bathing Water Directive. In addition the beaches require well managed facilities, excellent litter management, information provision and community involvement. These are then broken down into Resort Beaches; where facilities such as toilets, shops and cafes are present and Rural Beaches which tend to be quieter with fewer facilities.

Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire now have 5 beaches with the award including Aberdeen Beach (resort), Stonehaven (rural), Cruden Bay (rural), Balmedie (rural) and Inverboyndie (rural). To see the facilities available at each of the beaches please click on the links.
