Aberdeenshire Coastal Path

The Aberdeenshire Coastal Path is part of an ambitious scheme to create a series of paths around the North Sea Coast known as the North Sea Trail.

The Trail will give the opportunity to experience the variety of coastal landscapes that surround the North Sea. In Aberdeenshire, the path allows people to explore dramatic cliffs, windswept beaches and sheltered coves.

Aberdeenshire Council Planning and Environment Services has produced a guide and series of maps showing the waymarked trail, which are small enough to slip in your pocket. The maps also show information about features of interest and the coastal bus route. The appropriate map sections will be updated as the whole route becomes waymarked.

The maps are available from coastal Tourist Information Centres and to download from the Aberdeenshire Council website.

At the present time (September 2007), not all of the route is waymarked but as the remaining sections are completed, the maps will be updated.

An example of one of the routes is the section from Longhaven to Peterhead, this includes the excellent walk from Boddam to Peterhead. To get you to and from the walk why not use the local busses, timetables can be found at www.stagecoachbus.com.
